Installation Instructions

***AMBER/Autonomie needs the system’s region to be set to English (United States)***

***The user that will be working with AMBER 2020 must be the one who performs the installation***

The AMBER 2020 installation (setup.exe) uses Microsoft's ClickOnce technology. One of the benefits of this technology is that it does not require administrator privileges to install. Each application is installed in isolation on a per-user basis so it can’t interfere with other applications. As a result, each user needs to run the setup.exe.

If control over who can install AMBER is desired, place the contents of the extracted 'AMBER 2020.Zip' file on a network drive. Then manage its access via active directory. When installed from a network drive, AMBER will only update from that location.

AMBER 2020 Extraction
  1. We recommend the 'AMBER 2020.Zip' file be extracted and installed from the user's 'Downloads' folder or any other folder that's guaranteed to have full read/write access. This will mitigate installation issues as well as any application updating problems in the future.
  2. Extract the 'AMBER 2020.Zip' file.

1st Run

The 1st run of AMBER 2020 will consist of entering the required license information (license key or license server name/port or license file) and then extracting the appropriate packages for each feature of the license. This entire process may take a few minutes depending on the speed of the computer. All subsequent runs will have significantly faster loading times.

Licensing

The 1st run will yield a licensing dialog as depicted below. If the license key is on the clipboard, just click the 'OK' button to proceed. Otherwise, choose the appropriate option (license key or license server name/port or license file), enter the required information and then click the 'OK' button when done.

Package Extraction

Every feature of a license has a package. Each package then has its integrity validated before it's extracted to disk. The default location is 'C:\AMBER\2020'. However, if the user doesn't have write access to this location, a dialog will be displayed asking for an alternate location.
